Virtual Reality ~ Fear Of Flying Treatment!

So what is virtual reality? Do you know where you are? I bet you actually do know what your doing at any moment in time because of your five senses such as vision, hearing, smell, taste, & touch. These five senses are constantly sending a flow of information to your brain. This information is what we call the brain's sensory, or perceptual input. Virtual reality tries to persuade your brain into thinking you're somewhere else in the world. So why use virtual reality training? Virtual reality is used by the military to train pilots, its used by the airlines to train pilots, used by doctors for some medical training, & it could be used by therapist for helping to overcome phobias in a controlled environment. It mimics the sounds, & display like being in an actual airport. Because I am not a therapist, we only offer limited virtual reality training. The virtual reality is included when you purchase our fear of flying seminar consultation

Just the thought of going to the airport terrifies some people. Some people's palms sweat as you board the plane. Searching for your seat twists your stomach into a giant knots. But, it doesn't have to be that way. Virtual Reality can help you gain confidence & gradually desensitize your fear. With virtual reality the more you can experience it on the ground the better your experience will be on your next flight. Just like learning to ride a horse, if you fall you get back up & try again. The virtual reality can be very realistic from
replicating the boarding gate, airport announcements, people walking, to actual aircraft sounds. After a few minutes it feels realistic. All the events of an actual flight is in the right sequence order.  You see flight attendants cross checking & arming the cabin doors, to captain announcements & push back from the gate. The only thing you don't feel is the actual motion.

Can virtual reality help me? There been some experts who say's it doesn't help while others say it does help. I can tell you my clients consensus feel that it was helpful & gave them confidence to try a future flight. It really all depends on the level & what type of anxiety from fear of flying that you have. The way I run the virtual reality is to let them hear & see as many of the actual sights & sounds of the airport environment as possible to gradually make you feel this is real. I explain what they are hearing, or why something is being done. I have mixed together different aircraft characteristics  & sound so you can get the full exposure of the environment. For example, in some aircraft you can hear the nose gear come up on takeoff while in others you can't hear it. The reality of virtual reality is that you know initially your not on an airplane.  However, it sure looks & sounds real. Virtual Reality will help you desensitize your fear while getting you comfortable with the routine of flying.

Virtual Reality offers clients the opportunity to experience fearful situations in the safety of the office. Therefore, there's no need to take xanax as this training is in a controlled environment. State of the art equipment combined with professional guidance teaches clients to reduce anxiety & panic. Fear and phobias are overcome by including virtual reality and bio-feed back/cognitive behavioral techniques through a process known as counter-conditioning.
